The lessons he shares with Danny are the very same lessons that shaped his own life, helping him become a respected leader, a police chief, and someone others could depend on when it mattered most.
His favorite place has always been the dugout, because sometimes the most important conversations happen after the game.

A Message from Coach Comeaux
When I was a young boy, I thought baseball was teaching me how to throw, catch, and hit a ball.
Looking back, I realize it was teaching me something much greater. Every practice, every game, every coach, and every teammate helped shape the way I would one day lead others. Long before I wore a police badge or became a chief, I learned responsibility, perseverance, respect, humility, and teamwork on a baseball field. Those lessons stayed with me for the rest of my life.
That's why I created the Danny's Dugout series. My hope is that these stories encourage meaningful conversations between children and the adults who love them. If a baseball story helps one child become a little kinder, a little braver, a little more honest, or a little more willing to help someone else, then every page has served its purpose.

Book One
Danny Learns to Lead
Danny loves baseball. He loves getting a hit, making a great play, and hearing his teammates cheer. But during one game, Danny becomes so focused on what he wants to do that he forgets something important: baseball is a team sport.
Coach Comeaux helps Danny discover that being a leader isn't about being the best player on the field, getting your way, or being the person everyone notices. Leadership begins with something much simpler. It begins with how you treat the people around you.
Danny starts looking at the game differently. He encourages a teammate who makes a mistake, helps another player who is struggling, and discovers that helping someone else succeed can feel even better than making the big play himself.
